“Every postcard makes at least two people happy,” says John Bryan as he discussed his postcard book Birthday Spankings, which refers to the tradition of giving or receiving playful spankings to celebrate birthdays.
For the past decade, John sent postcards to his brother-in-law, Tony Gilmore, who had Down syndrome. Tony cherished each and every one he received.
Sadly, Tony passed away recently following a long illness. Before his passing, he mailed John a box filled with his postcards. With Tony’s permission, John has now published the postcard collection as Birthday Spankings.
Tony always thought the world would be a better place if everyone were to send and receive postcards. Birthday Spankings celebrates this idea and includes a bonus of 24 postcards ready for you to write and send to your loved ones.
In memory of Tony, John is generously donating 100% of book sale proceeds to the Greater Richmond ARC. Birthday Spankings is now available in the ARCenter lobby for $14.95. For an additional $5.00, we will ship the book to you.
