What is the Poetry Party?
Join us for a brand new recurring group activity, SPARC’s Poetry Party! That’s right, we want to write poems with you! Each Wednesday, we’ll share a prompt for a new poem, along with some examples and formatting suggestions. We’ll be looking for all kinds of minds to help us with creative lines for the poem, and you can submit as many lines for the poem as you want. We’ll take a few days to collect submissions (Wed. to Sun.) and string them together to make an amazing blend of everyone’s thoughts and ideas. Then, once we have our poem, we’ll share it here for everyone to enjoy!
Week One: These Are a Few of our Favorite Springs!
For our first Poetry Party, we’re celebrating all things spring. What are some of your favorite parts of springtime? Maybe it’s the warmer weather, longer days, or blooming flowers. Whatever it is, write a couplet to share how you feel about this season. Here’s an example to get you started! “I really love to mow the lawn, I like to see those weeds are gone.”
What’s a couplet?
Two short lines with the same rhythm that end with words that rhyme
