Well, August found its way here. Too soon for my liking. It is hard to stay in the moment and enjoy the last weeks of Summer when school supplies and anticipating all that needs to get ready is on my mind. I guess the trick is finding balance, something I think many of us as parents do daily. I will offer some info in this issue for us all on back to school, but I also really want you to all try to make some of these days really be al about just doing something that makes you happy. We’ve done a few small travel trips this summer, visiting family in NY and SC and finishing up with a few days just with our family at the beach. That is my happy place!
A few days of nothing but beach, sun, and downtime, It is exactly what I needed and although I wish it were longer, I am so thankful for the days we had. The picture I share here is from one of the morning Sunrises. I will be using it to get through the tough days ahead.
I have been driving our guy to Summer School every day at 745 am, he enjoys the structure and I have used those hours to get my work done. With that program ending, we will try to make use of some of the fun in RVA.LewisGinter hasa Lego exhibit, there are a few more fun festivals and he loves to walk at Maymont.
We are also planning a trip to Kings Dominion, I share 10 tips to make it a great trip, here. They really have a lot in place to make it a great experience.
I have shared that I put myself on a reading challenge this year, I am happy to say I am on track to meeting my goal. I am really enjoying it. I am sharing August book suggestions here, The list I have read so far for anyone that is looking for some suggestions, is also there. I’ve also started a “Things I Love” column, this monthit is mostly items we are getting for our daughter’s second year at college, although the earrings I got in July, I wear ALL the time!
Tax-Free Shopping is August 2-4, if you want to take advantage of this, you can read a little more about it here.
A favorite of mine to share in anticipation of school is the “Get To Know Me Form”. We adapt this every year and share it with the teachers and staff to have them learn a little about Marky. I think it is a great tool. Hereit is for you.
