In order to meet demand as well as deliver the best service possible, River City Inclusive Gymnastics has started two new teens’ classes. These classes are on Thursday evenings from 6pm-7pm and Saturday mornings from 11:30am-12:30pm and are for athletes ages 12-18. These classes run in a similar format to their other. For those unfamiliar with RCIG’s classes, think of a group fitness class taught within the framework of an obstacle course whose focus is building confidence, strength, balance, mobility, coordination, and social skills all while receiving individualized attention and coaching.
The idea for these new teens’ classes came to RCIG staff last spring while hosting the Down Syndrome Fun Quest group. After such an energetic event, staff members were still riding the wave of endorphins and adrenaline when they realized that if they wanted to have this much fun on a weekly basis then they needed to create a class for teens just like the ones that came with the Fun Quest group. This set the gears in motion and River City’s first inclusive Teens class was launched this past summer. This first class was such a success that all the athletes signed up again in the fall which then lead River City to add a second class on Saturday mornings.
If anyone is interested in finding out more information about this or another of the other classes being offered by River City Inclusive Gymnastics, please contact the gym at (804) 784-1990. Any prospective athlete can always participate in a free trial class before signing up, just call the gym at the number listed above to schedule your trial.
