It’s April, and that means Autism Month.
I will be posting my anual truth bombs and I won’t be celebrating autism. If that’s your thing, then go ahead choo choo train.
I will always celebrate Aidan! He will always be a gift. Autism? Never!! That thing that ails him and makes his life harder? Not a gift! Not at all! For those who’ve been reading these for years, sorry, they are basically the same with some twists. Wanna know what to do when you see us (by us I mean any autism family) and he’s jumping up and down and making some strange sounds while flapping??? We need you to AT LEAST smile if you’re gonna stare! I can handle your staring if you at least flash me a smile of acknowledgment. A smile of acceptance for what he must do to be comfortable in his own skin! A smile of understanding that he has to do this to establish his position spatially! A smile that says, I don’t know what’s happening here, but, that’s not necessary to be a good human! A smile in appreciation of how cute he is. But if you just stare, I should warn you, I’m completely out of estrogen and I will return your stare with a WTF are you looking at??
Honestly, I get curiosity, what I don’t get is bad manners. Just smile at us!!! That’s all I’m asking. The glare could get you in trouble and I don’t need to go to jail yall.
