Friendship Circle is looking for interested individuals to join our Board
Help guide Friendship Circle of VA to an even better future.
Friendship Circle of Virginia’s vision is to build an Inclusive community one friendship at a time. FCVA fulfills its vision by pairing neurotypical teens with children and young adults with disabilities for friendship and fun in their homes and throughout the community on a consistent and weekly basis throughout the school year.

Friendship Circle was founded on the Jewish principle that every person has a unique purpose in this world that only they can achieve with their specific abilities and challenges. Our role is to create an inclusive community where each soul can shine and truly belongs. FCVA is a project of Chabad of Virginia and is open to the entire Richmond, VA community inclusive of all people regardless of religion, race, gender, socioeconomic level, ability, diagnosis, or age.
We are especially interested in volunteer board members with backgrounds in business, accounting, marketing, law, disability advocacy, lived experience, and a passion for inclusion of people with disabilities and mental health conditions in the community. Self advocates are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Attend monthly board meetings. 80% attendance throughout the year required.
Participate in annual fundraising events
Attend at least 2 events annually
Strategic and organizational planning oversight
Ensuring strong fiduciary oversight
Each individual Board Member is expected to:
Know the organization’s mission and programs and be an ambassador for FCVA in the community
Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop corporate sponsors/donors
Contribute financially to the organization via personal donation or by recruiting additional donors or sponsors
Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings
Participate fully on one committee as needed
