Join Autism Society Central Virginia on Wednesday, February 5 at 6:30 pm for a workshop on Autism, Puberty and Sexuality presented by Dr. Staci Carr. This workshop will be at River Road United Methodist Church at 8800 River Road, Richmond, VA 23229.
Social and sexual development occurs together, however often not at the same rate for individuals with Autism. Understanding social and sexual development and how to prepare for puberty and relationships improves a person’s quality of life.
- To promote health, safety and abuse prevention,
- To recognize and understand an individual rights,
- To be proactive – prevent crises,
- To focus on the positive – not problems,
- To reduce confusion and uncertainty around sexuality and autism,
- To increase knowledge
- To increase self advocacy and self determination for individuals with ASD.
