Join us on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 7:00 pm for a FREE I’m Determined Family Night! Students in grades 5-12 and their families will not want to miss this opportunity!! Location: River Road United Methodist Church, 8800 River Road, Richmond, VA 23229
The I’m Determined project is a state directed project funded by the Virginia Department of Education. I’m Determined focuses on core components of self-determination which include advocating for ones self, choice making, decision making, problem solving as well as self awareness and self knowledge. By providing opportunities through direct instruction and modeling, the project strives to facilitate youth to undertake a measure of control in their lives, helping to set and steer their course rather than remaining a silent passenger.
Come out and hear the journeys of some of the youth leaders from the I’m Determined project as they share their stories, challenges, and discoveries of empowerment. Learn about the tools developed to help youth to share who they are, what they strive to do, and who might help them as they travel their road to self-determination. Each family will take home a Toolbox for Self-Determination to continue the discussion at home.
This event is intended for:
