I think many of you know I tend to see the half more than half full, I love to be optimistic and believe in the good. I am not pollyanna by any means, but work hard to advocate and stand for what I believe in.
Without going into detail, this has been a rough week for my spirit and my belief system. That doesn’t mean I am going to stop- because we do not ever quit when it comes to our kids! But, I’d be lying if I said I did not want to hide or run away.
Then, an email comes to me, from someone I do not know. It says:
“Dear Carissa,
A dear friend from my old church was a Macaroni Kid subscriber and urged me to subscribe to Know Different when my little guy was diagnosed with Autism two years ago on Monday. I have gained so much from your blog over these years and want to thank you for your time, talent and energy you put into it!
I have realized over these years how much mothers of children with special needs give to their families…
Much Joy, ……. “
As I read this, I cried, because I loved feeling appreciated and even more, I loved that what I am doing is making a difference. Some days, I am not always sure.
Today, I needed this and I wanted to share it in case any of you are also having a bad moment. I hope it will serve as a reminder that a bad day or week does not mean forever and when you least expect it, you may be making a difference in someone’s life.
Thanks for being a part of KNOWDifferent.
xoxo
Carissa
