Happy May! I am loving this sunshine! It seems like we have gone from Winter to Summer, not much of a Spring, yet! I am not going to complain after all of the rain we had, but, ideally, some 70 degree weather days would be perfect! This picture is from the Herb/ Plant Festival at Maymont. It was such a great day. I created a Festival Guide on the other site I publish, and I reference it all the time. There are so many happening around Richmond and some of them are great for our kids. (Side note, I CUT ALL my hair, and after a few weeks, have grown to love it- no matter the age, change can be hard!)
April’s Awareness
Happy April, a month that brings warmer weather, the blooming of flowers, and the planning of Summer. We also will be living in Richmond for 10 years this month, Happy Anniversary to us! Many celebrate Autism Awareness in the month of April. As someone who lives with it every day, I applaud a month but would do a standing ovation for it 365 days a year! I wrote a little about this in an article below as well as an article on doing hard things!

Marchin’ In
Happy March! February usually feels like the longest and coldest month for me, but, this past month flew by, and we had all 4 seasons in a week! I’m hoping that Spring is coming and that the rain is done!
Feelin’ February !
Happy February! January was a tough month for me. I’m going with the belief that if it started off on the uphill climb, the next 11 months are going to slowly descent with a little more ease. I know you all have those days, weeks and months. I also know that we are some of the strongest and resilient Care Bears out there and we never quit. Although, there are days, we really want to.

New Year, New Wishes
Happy 2019, it is a New Year, I hope you all enjoyed your last few days of 2018. May this year be one that brings us all simplicity, joy, gratitude, health & laughter. Think about it, what more do we need? When things are simple, the stress is less, that leads to a calmer inner being which helps to keep us healthy and for that we have gratitude and can find joy! There you have it, my mantra for the year! It is my wish for all of you.

Dear December
Dear December,
We want to enjoy you arrival
We want to spend more time with our family and friends & less running around

We want to enjoy each day.

We are going to try to find gratitude in every day
Let’s remember, our days may not be perfect, but what is?
Let’s embrace our “KNOWDifferent” and keep our hearts full.
Dear December,
We are thankful for the magic of the season and all of the love of our family & friends.
November’s News
Happy November. One of my favorite day’s is November 1, the day we celebrate our middle daughter’s birthday. Today she is 18, although you would think she has been forever, as she is truly an old soul. I am so proud of the young woman she has become and the voice and guide she is for her brother. I know it is not always easy having a sibling with special needs, and, yes, there have been days where I knew it was harder for her, but, she always leads with a quiet confidence and provides her brother with such security. I admire this young woman and I sit back with such pride. Happy Birthday to my “little girl”.
Onto October…
Hard to believe October is here already! I know I will start to see and hear the holiday season sooner than I am ready for. Some friends have shared that they already are seeing this, I am going to “stay in October”. I love the weather in October and one of my favorite Fall activities happens this month, The Folk Festival. If you haven’t tried it yet, I suggest you do. It is a family friendly, free event. It is at Brown’s Island and there is music all weekend, playing all throughout the venue and from all over the world. Our son enjoys it too, you do not have to be too close the music if sound is an issue for your child.
September’s Here
Well, I am going to take the advice I give and see the positive in September’s arrival. The Fall is such a beautiful season. Weather is less humid, walking outside is more enjoyable, schedules are back and Football returns which means I get back to Fall Dinners like chili and pasta ! Plus in Richmond, we have the best list of Fall Festivals. I am going to embrace it all and go moment by moment with the things that are overwhelming.

August’s Has Arrived….
Can you believe it is August !?! Are you ready for all things back to school!? I am not. Things are really different in our home, and going to change more. Our oldest moved out, got her own awesome apartment and it is so exciting for her. It her time to shine and leave the nest. Now we prepare for our middle daughter to leave for her Freshman year at college in 3 weeks. I am going from a home of 5 to 3! Although this is all part of life’s cycle, it is hard. I am able to share how I feel and can grab my emotions. I do not know how this will play out for our boy. I tried to write a little about this in a piece in this issue. I say “tried” because, so much is unknown and I am so emotional!
Friends, think of me, send me strength and hugs- this momma needs it!
