This past week, a few “little” things happened that I realized were not so little for us. It got me thinking about how much is taken for granted in the day in- day out life of kids that do it “typically”.

Bon Secours 24/7 is Market’s First for Online Physician Visits
Mobile app connects patients with high-quality medical care from virtually anywhere, anytime
Bon Secours Richmond Health System has launched Bon Secours 24/7, a telehealth app that gives the community access to the health system’s medical group providers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, no appointment necessary. Bon Secours is the first health system to enter the Richmond market with this service.
“Bon Secours recognizes that people are increasingly engaged in their own health care and seek convenience, affordability and reliability. A 24/7 telehealth platform for non-urgent office visits for community residents and our employees is essential to help meet those changing expectations,” said Thomas Auer, M.D., chief executive officer, Bon Secours Medical Group. “We’re pleased to extend high-quality, trusted health care into the communities we serve through electronic physician visits.”

Whether you’re an expectant parent, new to the area, or not happy with your current doctor, here are 5 tips for picking the right pediatrician for you and your child.
1.Get a Notebook & Start Taking Notes. List areas of greatest concern to you about your child’s health and well-being. Co-sleeping, Breastfeeding, Immunization Schedules, Diet, Homeopathic Remedies, Exercise, Medication, School, Sports, etc. Look for a doctor who’s on the same page as you when it comes to these issues & your parenting style.
2.Meet and Greet. A good pediatrician is willing to meet with parents for an informal interview session. Take your notebook with you when you interview doctors to keep track of what you like and dislike. Observe how the office operates. Is the staff friendly, welcoming, and happy that you are considering coming to their practice? Does the doctor seem to genuinely love what he or she does? Is the waiting room clean, patient-friendly, and stocked with toys for the little ones?

HappyNewYear!
2016 C.E. Edition
Hello, Internet. According to the Gregorian Calendar, 2015 ended last month, although the exact time of its ending depends on the time zone. The end of a year is a pretty big deal, though the associated holiday is completely inferior to Christmas, because it symbolizes an end of the old and a beginning of the new. As such, this article is about both my experiences in the past year and my plans for the new one. (Not “resolutions”, mind, because then I won’t accomplish them.)
