This site has been a place of comfort, sharing , learning and connecting. All things that I feel describe me as a person.
My goal when I started KNOWDifferent was to create a safe place for caregivers, parents and all that live with a special needs individual. I wanted to be able to offer resources and to share some personal stories to create a feeling of inclusivity. I think the site succeeded in most of that.
Covid changed a lot in all of our worlds. In my world, my work and life all changed significantly.
From a business standpoint; businesses were struggling to stay afloat and many of our sponsorships were closed. I kept many on site and did what I could do to continue sharing info and resources.
From a personal standpoint; it was all overwhelming.
Many of you remember that I was home full time with Marky for 16 months, he was not in person and virtual school was exhausting. Presently, Marky has become a little more complicated and is requiring much of my time with his changing needs. He remains my priority and as I shared on the site so often; I will be his voice always, as he cannot be his own. Although I am still writing, there is less I feel like sharing. There is not as much joy, curiosity or humor, of late. While we all know that this is part of life with a loved one that has complex needs, we also need to know what is necessary and unnecessary to share. Writing is a very healing form of expression for me, but as someone who thinks ALOT, I also know that readers need to laugh, smile and feel some lightness.
Knowing it is time for something different is not always easy, but, that’s ok. We all know we can do hard things! KNOWDifferent as as website and newsletter will take an indefinite break. KNOWDifferent will continue as a Facebook page as a place to share events, quotes and a way for you to connect with me. If there is anything I can do or try to help with, please stay in touch. I hope to continue to be a connector of people, because that brings me joy . There must be joy for me in what I do and what I give. It is who I am. This feels right.
I have so enjoyed this journey and all of the learning that this site brought. I will hold onto the lessons I have learned along the way. The people I have met and connected with, as well as the relationships I have helped to form, these all are priceless to me and I hope that they continue.
