Medical Home Plus Update on Uncork Hope

October 14, 2021 By Carissa Garabedian

Dear MHP Friends and Supporters,

We are writing to share that we feel there is no safer option than to reimagine this year’s Uncork Hope event, scheduled for November 5, 2021. After hosting a virtual event last year, we were anticipating a joyous return to our traditional in-person (and indoor) event, but feel that concerns about COVID-19 still linger. Our mission is to provide hope and support to families of children with special healthcare needs. Hosting an inside event for a large crowd, given the hardships that continue to surround our community, especially where children are concerned, would go against that mission.

We will be hosting an outdoor 10 years of Uncork Hope celebration with our donors, sponsors, board, and staff. We hope that, even in lieu of not having our traditional event, our supporters will help us to continue our mission as we are seeing unprecedented volume from families needing help. Even when we had to host a virtual Uncork Hope last year, you all supported us and we couldn’t be more thankful for this community. As a safety protocol, there are a limited number of tickets available. Please reach out to Emily at 804-330-5030 if you are interested in attending.

We have other opportunities to stay engaged with MHP’s mission through two upcoming fundraisers in the near future: Grapes for Good Relaunch (November 30th) and a Kendra Scott jewelry event (December 13th-15th). We will share more details on each opportunity to come.

Our mission and the critical service we provide to the community continues. Given the upheaval of virtual learning for nearly 18 months and a difficult transition back into physical classrooms, demand for our services has more than doubled. We have actively engaged with more than 100 new families for educational and community-resource supports since the beginning of our fiscal year on July 1st!

We have never turned a family away or charged them for our assistance. In order to offer our services free of charge to families and professionals, we rely on the generosity of our community – YOU! In addition to one-time donations, we’ve recently added the option to offer long-term support through recurring giving! Every donation provides hope; no matter the amount or size. And we remain grateful for your steadfast support of MHP, our mission, and the families that benefit from our services. Your Child is Our Mission.
