As school approaches, there is lots of uncertainty and plenty of questions surrounding the individualized education plan (IEP) process and what that will look like in these unprecedented times. Moms in Motion is excited to announce our next Facebook live event where we will discuss all things IEP. We have invited Tracy Lee, of the Virginia Department of Education to share her knowledge about the IEP process. Please join us Wednesday, July 29th at noon.
Tracy Lee is currently the Family Engagement Specialist/Special Projects Coordinator in the Department of Special Education and Student Services at the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE). She provides leadership and technical assistance to Parent Resource Centers (PRCs) throughout the Commonwealth and trains both parents and school divisions in parental rights, dispute resolution, and best practices in collaboration through the special education process. She is also managing a grant project through the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities regarding Critical Decision Points for Families of Students with Disabilities.
She has been an elementary school teacher, preschool director, and the Family Resource Coordinator for Colonial Heights Public Schools. Mrs. Lee has co-authored two bestselling parenting books (1-2-3 Magic for Kids and the 1-2-3 Magic Workbook) and has appeared on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox affiliates, nationwide, discussing parenting and education related issues. Additionally, she was the 2019 recipient of Virginia’s Governor’s Honor Award in the category of Personal and Professional Excellence, which is the highest possible for an employee of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
