About this Event
Ron, Cornelia, Walter, and Owen Suskind were the subject of the 2017 Academy Award nominated documentary Life, Animated. The documentary tells the story of Owen, a young man with autism, who was unable to speak as a child until he and his family discovered a unique way to communicate by immersing themselves in the world of classic Disney animated films. Since the documentary premiered, the family has become leading voices in the autism and larger disability community, helping to lift up Owen and millions of others like him. Owen, now 29, lives independently in Cape Cod, Massachusetts where he works at Starbucks and the AMC movie theater. Ron and Cornelia live in Cambridge, Massachusetts, while Walter lives in Washington, D.C. where he has started SibStrong, an organization designed to support siblings of individuals with disabilities.
During this presentation, the Suskind family will talk about their experiences and answer questions from attendees.
