Programs and Events Canceled Through May 31, 2020Dear Members of the SPARC Community, In light of yesterday’s announcement from Virginia Governor Ralph Northam regarding the closure of Virginia schools for the remainder of the year and the expected period of time that gatherings will be prohibited or discouraged, SPARC has made the difficult decision to cancel all programs and events scheduled through May 31, 2020. We did not make this decision lightly, and our staff and faculty are as heartbroken as our students that the following programs unfortunately must be canceled:
The following Spring 2020 programs remain postponed for now, in the remote chance that circumstances will allow us to reconvene for some sort of public performance in the months ahead:
To be clear, we have not made a decision regarding our Summer 2020 programs. We hope that conditions in the coming months support our desired plans to spend this summer with our students, building their inner light and leading them in personal discovery in the following programs:
We deeply empathize and share the disappointment that our students will feel regarding this decision, in addition to all of the other changes and disappointments they are experiencing through the coronavirus crisis. We are proud to see our faculty and students remaining engaged with each other through SPARC’s social media, and we celebrate the fact that the arts – in any form, including creativity expressed at a distance! – is vital in the lives of our students and for our society in these unprecedented times. Yours at SPARC, Live Art 2021 and C.A.R.E. at HomeThough the show is canceled for 2020, we may resiliently look towards the future: we will produce Live Art LOUD! In fact, it’s more important than ever. Join us (virtually) in the coming weeks as we practice C.A.R.E. at home with our families, our friends, and ourselves.
