24.4 miles walked in 26 hours in NYC on a quick getaway with my hubby. This was a gift for my birthday and it is something we rarely get to do. I was an anxious and a stressed out wreck leading up to the trip. I wanted to bail a few times, but thanks to my oldest daughter, our guy was well taken care of and we had a blast.
NYC is an easy destination to get to, there is always something to do and it doesn’t have to be expensive.
We had zero plans minus a concert that was on my bucket list and enjoyed every second of exploring. I am sharing some of my tips on how we saved money too.
I realize this is not an easy thing for many of us to do , but with some planning, it can be done. I also think that if a destination like NYC is a little too far, start closer to home and work your way up. I am making a goal to try for this 2 times a year. If I get it in once, I will be thrilled.
Here is a picture summary of our walkathon in NYC!
The first picture is the first billboard my eyes caught in the airport, if you are a believer in signs, you will know I took this as a good one.
Our Trip In Pictures!
I loved seeing this!
You could walk for miles and never see the same thing !
The tree was up! Maybe covered, but up!
✔️St Patrick’s Cathedral
It has been a long time since I have visited, such a beautiful building. My grandma was smiling down on me!
Well, because when in NY= pizza
✔️A wedding at the NY public library
Check out the bride’s footwear! LOVE IT !
✔️The Milk Bar ( owned by a JMU alumni !)
We learned that this place is owned by a JMU grad who majored in engineering, and has stores all over! YUM!
✔️Hudson Yards (FREE, you can opt for a $10 ticket to reserve an open time slot)
This place was so neat, we walked to the top and had beautiful views of the Hudson River. It is surrounded by a shopping mall!
What a great walk, so much to see and explore
No theater this trip, but the “show” is always on
The magic of the holidays is always to believe
✔️ Boutique hotel
We loved this hotel. Great spacious room, with a great shower. GREAT service and breakfast was delish! ( oven baked bacon!)
A classic for sure!
✔️A new friend from France

✔️An anime convention
We walked in to the Javitz Center following a large group of people in costumes. to find that an Anime Convention was taking place. Marky loves Anime, it is his current favorite. We facetimed him and showed him all the characters. He was so excited!

Planes trains and automobiles were all a part of making some great memories , but, our feet really got us there!
Kudos to my hubby and girls for making it all work!
Hotel Tonight is an amazing app we use that offers the lowest prices around. we loved our hotel and would go back in a heartbeat.Download the app and use our code MGARABEDIAN3 for up tp $50 off your booking!
We flew in to Newark, which was hundreds cheaper then a NY airport and super easy to get to NYC by train for $15 each.
If you can get away, don’t stress over things with time constraints, enjoy NOT having a schedule ! We ate breakfast late, had no where to be except the concert and enjoyed just exploring and having some down time. I even read a book on the plane trips!
I hope you enjoyed this visual trip to NYC and that it inspires you to find a little time to escape and explore. It did my heart, mind and body good!
