ASCV May Workshops: DD Waivers and How to Utilize the Waiver, Once You Receive It

ASCV will host two workshops in May to share information on obtaining a DD Waiver and how to utilize the waiver, once you receive it!

Developmental Disability Waivers 101
Friday, May 10, 7 PM

Medicaid waivers provide services and supports at home and in the community to children and adults with developmental disabilities who meet diagnostic, functional and financial eligibility requirements. Financial eligibility is not dependent on parental income.

This session will address:
-the 3 types of DD Waivers
-services available in each of the 3 waivers
-eligibility
-how to apply
-resources available while you wait

This workshop is for individuals and families interested in learning the basics about DD Waivers, eligibility, and how to apply.

I Have a DD Waiver: Now What?
Friday, May 17, 7 PM

DD Waivers can provide supports and services to enable those receiving them to live more integrated, independent lives.

This session will address:
-roles and responsibilities of case managers and service facilitators
-developing the plan of care
-descriptions of services available, including consumer directed services
-important steps to keep your waiver in place

This workshop is for anyone interested in learning the process of utilizing a DD Waiver. This session will not address eligibility, screening, waiting lists, etc.

About the Presenter, Bradford Hulcher:
Bradford is passionate about helping individuals and families navigate Virginia’s service systems to access the person centered supports and services needed to achieve their dreams. Bradford currently serves as an Information & Referral Specialist for the ASCV, as well as a lead advocacy volunteer. Bradford graduated from the University of Virginia and Partners in Policymaking, and she is a Medicaid Waiver Mentor. Bradford has served on many local and state work and policy groups, including the Region IV REACH Advisory Council and the DOJ Settlement Agreement Stakeholder’s Group. Bradford is the parent of 2 adult sons, one of whom has autism.
