Happy May! I am loving this sunshine! It seems like we have gone from Winter to Summer, not much of a Spring, yet! I am not going to complain after all of the rain we had, but, ideally, some 70 degree weather days would be perfect! This picture is from the Herb/ Plant Festival at Maymont. It was such a great day. I created a Festival Guide on the other site I publish, and I reference it all the time. There are so many happening around Richmond and some of them are great for our kids. (Side note, I CUT ALL my hair, and after a few weeks, have grown to love it- no matter the age, change can be hard!)
It was a good month in our home, Marky learned how to tie his shoes, on his own, using YouTube. I am sharing the video with you, here; Tying Shoes
It was a great reminder for me that we really never know what our kids are capable of. Admittedly, I never really tried to have him master this skill. I assumed it for him. He did this on how own and texted me from school to share that he “can do all kinds of things!”. Yes, yes he can. My wish for you all is that the child(ren) in your worlds that all do it “KNOWDifferently”, also master something you may have thought wasn’t possible. It surely gave me hope. It also gave a lot of my friends some perspective, many reached out to me to say, it was something they just took for granted, their kids’ never had this struggle and it never occurred to them to think about this. And, that, right there, keeps me going! It is the reason for this site and the reason we all need to share our moments! Have one you want to share? Please get in touch, it will help so many!
It’s the month we celebrate Mother’s Day, one day a year we get recognized – WHAT!?! I wrote about this feeling of mine in this issue. This “holiday” used to set me back and I would always be disappointed. I have changed a few things to prevent that. I hope you find my ideas helpful. Please do me a favor, take a few hours this month, I don’t care if it is May 12, or another day, just take it and do something just for you! I welcome those of you that do this, to share it with me, I would love to use what you did in an article to give other moms ideas. I can keep it anonymous. Together, we can help and support one another. I wish you all some moments of peace and smiles on Mother’s Day. I think you are all incredible!
