Come learn about the Tiger, the Owl and the Hippo and some creative ways to use your play therapy skills and materials to help children self-regulate without judgment/shame/blame. This concept and the techniques that go along with it fit well into narrative and solution focused play therapy as well as in TF-CBT.
It opens the door to many ways to engage the child in the process in a strength based way. It also creates a great communication tool for parents to use with their child that has them working together rather than getting into a blame/shame cycle.
The concept was born during the process of play therapy and the book “Toby the Tiger Tamer” by Amy Reamer, LMFT, RPT (of Heart and Mind Therapy Services) was also created because it was the concept was so helpful and had such a great impact on clients and families. Other therapists encouraged Amy to create a tool for them to use and now many therapists, school counselors and parents are using the book often. This training takes the book to the next level in how to use play/art and more in the therapy room. New ideas are welcome as well!
