At Autastic Avenues we believe in the ability of the brain to change its structure and function based on sensory input and experience or “neuroplasticity”. Adding Integrated Listening Systems programs as a therapeutic enhancement to speech/language therapy sessions and multi-sensory reading tutoring (Orton-Gillingham) helps with auditory processing, speed of processing, focus and concentration. The programs also benefit clients who have sensory processing and motor planning difficulties.
The Reading &Auditory Processing Program is designed to improve auditory processing for sound/symbol decoding, language and reading as well as mental focus, sustained attention
and working memory for reading comprehension.
Who benefits from iLs? Clients who demonstrate delays and/or difficulties in any of the following areas:
Concentration/Attention/Memory
Speech/Language
Written Expression & Reading Comprehension
Social Communication & Behavior
Motor Skills
Processing Speed
Sensory Processing
“By improving the sense of one’s body -where it is, how to control it, how to move it – to the point where we don’t need to think about it, we are freeing up the brain to focus on higher order activities.”
