May 27, 2015 By Carissa Garabedian

10410845_873248322702307_729299725654962316_nI can not believe the school year is coming to a close in just a few short weeks. I hope that it has been an awesome year! I am super excited about summer camp 2015 as we have many new field trips and places to explore. We will be participating in a service project at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens, mapping the James River at Henricus Park, strolling the Canal Walk and enjoying lunch on the observation deck in the city, to name just a few.

Camp is filling up fast this year! If you have already enrolled then please remit your deposit (if you owe one) ASAP to guarantee your child’s place. If you have not enrolled and wish to then please do so soon as we have several weeks that are close to being full.

We are excited to start off this summer with a cookout for all of our campers, their families and our volunteers. Save the date, Saturday, June 20th from 4 PM to 6:30 PM. We will have some great food and plenty of information to share, including field trip schedules for the summer! This link will take you to the site with all the info.

Thank you so much for supporting RAIN and for allowing us the opportunity to serve your children! Please do not hesitate to give me a call or shoot me an email with any questions or concerns. Also, please don’t forget about the recreational scholarship offered y the ASCV! http://ascv.org/about/recreational-scholarships/

RAIN’s mission is to provide a welcoming environment where older children and teens with Autism can be accepted and form lasting peer relationships. All while having fun and learning critical social skills.

This year, our camp theme is: Discover Richmond

Richmond has so many unique and fun things to offer. Together, we will learn together about Virginia and Richmond history while making new friends and focusing on specific social/life skills! Some of our field trips will include: A visit to our State Capital, the Valentine Museum, the Science Museum, Art History at VMFA, Bowling,Putt Putt, Swimming, a walking tour of Hollywood Cemetery, Chesterfield Fire Safety, as well as cooking, music and so much more!

See you this summer!
