River City Inclusive Gymnastics is pleased to announce two new class options beginning June 25th. Starting Monday June 25, RCIG will off an additional kids gymnastics class from 5:00pm-6:00pm. This class follows the same format as our other elementary age classes and is for children 5-11 years of age.
On February 14, River City Inclusive Gymnastics hosted Hermitage High School for a field trip.
For the staff at River City, this was the perfect way to spend Valentine’s Day. We had the gym set up into three obstacle courses with various activities, some harder than others. Then we divided the group into three small teams and with each team being guided by a River City coach on a particular course. After about 20 minutes the groups then rotated so that by the end the students had the chance to experience a wide variety of activities that focused on certain gymnastics skills.
We have classes for kids, teens, and adults. Our program is open to all athletes but is specifically designed for those with special needs. This 8 week session runs from Jan 2-Feb 24. See the class times listed below or visit www.rcig.org to find out more information. If you’re not sure our program is right for your family, please call to schedule a free trial class.
On October 21, 2017 River City Inclusive Gymnastics will be having an open house from 3:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. This open house is an opportunity for parents and caregivers of children, teens and adults with special needs to find out more information about our inclusive gymnastics program. Visitors will have a chance to meet the coaches and tour the gym. Additionally parents of athletes that currently participate in the River City Inclusive Gymnastics will be on hand to answer questions and give their perspective of the program.
Registration is not needed, simply show up between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on October 21st and let the coaches of River City give you a tour of the facility. River City Inclusive Gymnastics is located at 48 Plaza Dr. Manakin-Sabot, VA 23103 and is only three miles form Short Pump.
River City is starting a new teen class for individuals ages 13-20.
The classes start June 28 and the session runs 8 weeks from 6- 7p.
See the flyer below and call RCYF for more info.
On April 30, 2017, River City Inclusive Gymnastics hosted DSAGR’s Funquest social group. The afternoon was filled with smiles, laughter, and exercise. The Funquest group was comprised of about 12 teens ages 13-20 of varying athletic ability. After a quick warm-up that included bear crawling, skipping, bunny hopping and stretching, the group began working on basic gymnastic skills. These skills included balance, coordination, and strength training and were presented to each Funquest participant as activities on part of an obstacle course. Think American Ninja Warrior but with a coach watching and guiding throughout . Some of the obstacles that the teens conquered were walking on a balance beam, swinging on a rope, swinging on rings and climbing a rock wall. The event culminated with a rocking game of volleyball. All of the coaches and volunteers had a great time and can’t wait to host another challenging and fun filled event soon.
We recently wrapped up the first couple weeks of session two and are excited to see all of the new families take advantage of our program as well as those families continuing on their gymnastics journey.
