One of the most challenging and rewarding experiences in life is parenting. In our overstimulated, busy society, we’re raising children in a very different environment than the one we experienced. Parenting articles and books are everywhere, but what tools and practices are most helpful, effective, and well-tested?
In partnership with the Cameron K. Gallagher (CKG) Foundation, Chrysalis Institute has created a one-day Mindful Parenting Conference to build our mindfulness practice as parents, build confidence, and explore the strengths that mindfulness can bring to all of our relationships. Certified mindfulness practitioners will facilitate 2 keynotes, 15+ workshops, and all-day practice opportunities. Substantive, evidence-based tools can be implemented immediately.
Our morning keynote speakers are the duo of Chris Reina, Ph.D., VCU School of Business, and Sherry Klauer, Mindfulness Teacher and Parent. Chris and Sherry are both Faculty at Chrysalis Institute, and will open the day with key concepts of mindfulness, the neuroscience behind why and how it works, and how mindfulness can strengthen our day-to-day roles as parents using concrete life examples. Our afternoon keynote speakers are David and Grace Gallagher, founders of CKG Foundation. They will share their story of resilience after suddenly losing their daughter Cameron, and the role that mindfulness played in their journey.
Participants can be parents, grandparents, educators, or other role models in a child’s life.
The event will be Saturday, June 9, 2018, 9:30 AM 4:30 PM
Location: The Collegiate School, 103 North Mooreland Road, Henrico, VA, 23229
