The disAbility Law Center of Virginia Foundation will recognize Outstanding Advocate in Housing.
The disAbility Law Center of Virginia Foundation will host its 5th Annual Liberty and Justice for ALL Gala on April 13, 2018 at the Hippodrome Theater.
“In practicing special education law, I see on a weekly basis that those who need help the most can often afford it the least. The disAbility Law Center of Virginia provides free legal services to people with disabilities no matter their financial need,” states Todd Ratner, Foundation Board President. “One in five people have a disability. There isn’t enough funding to help everyone who needs it and that’s why we started the gala.”
This year, the Darrel Tillar Mason Excellency in Advocacy Award will be given to local advocate for their extraordinary work in housing advocacy. Bill Fitzgerald of WTVR Channel 6 Evening News will be the master of ceremony for the gala. Wear your most stylish roaring 20’s jazz era or cocktail attire.
Proceeds will help the disAbility Law Center of Virginia (dLCV) raise funds to advance the rights of people with disabilities. The dLCV was established in 2012 as a private, not-for-profit organization with a vision to have a commonwealth free of legal barriers for individuals with disabilities. The mission is to advance independence, choice and self-determination; protect legal, human and civil rights; and eliminate abuse, neglect and discrimination of people with disabilities through zealous and uncompromising legal advocacy and representation.
Sponsored by VHDA, BCI Bamman Consulting, Dominion Energy, Todd Ratner PLC, Union Bank, GroundForce IT, Capital One, Technology Assurance Group, Clyde W Matthews Jr. and Heidi Lawyer, and Darrel Tillar Mason and Carroll Mason.
