Commonwealth Autism’s 17th Annual Autism Conference: Raising Expectations is March 7 & 8, 2018. Location: The Westin Richmond, 6631 West Broad Street, Richmond, Virginia 23230.
This year’s conference will feature local advocate Hallie Hovey-Murray, an inspiring young woman with autism who will be our morning keynote speaker on the first day. Hallie will share her story and discuss overcoming expectations, a message that will be valuable to both families and service providers. The conference will also feature presentations on over 18 additional topics, covering the lifespan and range of needs for people with autism and other developmental disabilities.

Commonwealth Autism will present its 17th annual two-day Autism Conference designed for both caregivers and professionals on March 7-8, 2018 at the Richmond Westin. Featured keynote speakers this year include Dr. Peter Gerhardt, a dynamic speaker with extensive expertise with people with disabilities, and Hallie Hovey Murray, a local self-advocate focusing on overcoming expectations.
In addition to these keynote speakers, there will be a variety of breakout sessions featuring topics ranging from early intervention to social skills development to sexuality education and more. The conference also features a wide range of community support vendors and networking opportunities. Professional development opportunities for behavior analysts, teachers, and other professionals are available.
Scholarships for parents, caregivers, and individuals with autism are available on a limited basis. Applications are available on the Commonwealth Autism website and are due February 17th. In addition, if families are eligible for Family Caregiver Training as part of their Medicaid waiver, they can work with their case manager to request funds to attend the conference.
