Consultation services are designed to provide training, technical assistance and support to individuals of all ages with disabilities. The goal is to increase the opportunities for inclusion and success in the individual’s home and their communities.
Our program can provide services to help support the individual in a variety of formats:

Community support
Family/Caregiver Training
School Consultation (to include IEP support)
Services are provided by agency-approved vendors of Positive Behavior Support (PBS) or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), both of which are clinically proven approaches to reducing or eliminating behaviors which interfere with employment and independent living.

Levels of treatment
Intense 7-10 hours/week Current ongoing daily/weekly aggression, self-injury, property destruction, isolation from peer and/or community; severe stereotypical behavior; no or very minimal communication; lack of skills to manage self-care routines
Moderate 4-6 hours/week History of behaviors (i.e. Aggression, Self-Injury, Property Destruction, ) that still occur on a weekly/ regular basis; moderate stereotypical behavior; minimal or limited communication; minimal or limited self-care skills; other behaviors that impact participation in the community
Mild 1-3 hours/week History and current behaviors that impact daily living, communication, self-care, and/or community participation
Monthly Consultative Support 1-4 hours/month History of behaviors that impacted daily living, communication, self-care, and/or community participation that have may not have generalized into multiple settings and across multiple individuals.

Recognizing Children’s Gifts was founded to promote and enhance the development of infants and young children with special needs between the ages of birth to adolescence. We offer one of the most comprehensive programs in Virginia, offering services in a center based environment in addition to providing services in the home.
