Over the past year there have been quite a few changes to the Virginia Medicaid Waiver program. Even before the changes many families caring for an individual with developmental, cognitive, and/or physical disabilities were unaware of the waiver programs and uncertain about how to apply. In June the Autism Society of Central Virginia will be offering two workshops to help explain the waivers and other Virginia programs that support the elderly and disabled.
It is free to attend the workshops but individuals are encouraged to register in advance at http://ascv.org/meetings-events/
The Medicaid Waiver programs for people with developmental disabilities were redesigned in 2016. The Day Support Waiver is now the Building Independence Waiver. The Developmental Disabilities Waiver is now the Individual and Family Supports Waiver. The Intellectual Disabilities Waiver is now the Community Living Waiver. All three waivers are referred to as Developmental Disabilities (DD) Waivers. New services were added to these DD Waivers and the waiting list for these waivers has been combined into one DD Waivers waiting list. This workshop will cover the DD Waiver screening process, waiting list issues, and an overview of the new services available under the revised DD Waivers. The EDCD Waiver and the Tech Waiver will be combined in the summer of 2017. This new Waiver will be called the Commonwealth Coordinated Care Plus Waiver. This workshop will cover when and how these two Waivers will be combined, the screening process and the services provided under the waiver. In addition, CCC Plus (no word “Waiver” in this title) refers to a new managed care model for acute care services (doctor visits, therapies, prescriptions, hospitalization, tests) which will also include the new CCC Plus Waiver.
