We at ASL Champs are excited to announce our American Sign Language (ASL) classes.
The classes will take place at The Mill House, 7812 Schrader Road, Richmond, Virginia. If you have any problems locating our new facility, please feel free to call the office at 804-261-7050.
The Spring ASL classes will start during the week of March 27, 2017.Please see below for a complete list of our scheduled classes. If you have any questions, feel free to email Reba Poole at [email protected] or text number 804-502-1949.
The total cost per class is $60 which covers 10 weeks of class and each class is 90 minutes. ASL 1 and ASL 2 use a single book divided into 2 into sections. You may order book online such as Amazon, Barnes Noble Bookstore or any online you can find. Title of book is Learn American Sign Language by James W. Guido. If you have questions, please feel free to contact us.
Classes will include many fun, hands-on activities which will enable you to communicate with our deaf community. There are no grades or tests. We will provide you with the opportunity to learn ASL in a fun and supportive environment with interactive games, role plays and dialogue.
We offer beginner, intermediate, advanced and Skill-building classes which are designed to improve your ASL skills. Each class is limited to only 15 people, so you will get individual attention. If any class with less than 5 registered will be cancelled or discuss with teacher, but encourage to move to other class.

BEGINNER CLASS (ASL 1) – Learn fingerspelling, counting, and basic signs i.e.: “How are you? non-manual signals (NMS) and how to convert English into ASL.
INTERMEDIATE (ASL 2) – Continues with the same book from ASL 1.
Advanced ASL (ASL 3) – Continues to enhance your signing skills. This class will give you a review of what has been learned in ASL 1 and ASL 2, plus continues to increase your vocabulary, facial gestures and ASL grammar.
Continuing ASL– Continues to increase your signing skills, translate short sentences in ASL, etc. This class will be various and challenge to review and practice to learn how to communicate each other in ASL.
ASL Skill-building– This is an advanced ASL class. You will continue to increase and improve your expressive and receptive sign vocabulary through a variety of activities. Topics MAY include fingerspelling and numbers, incorporation of classifiers into a signed story, use of memory skills and determining English-ASL vocabulary choices for English words and ASL signs that can have more than one meaning. Students must have completed ASL 1, 2, 3 and 4 and/or be highly skilled signers prior to taking this class.
