We recently wrapped up the first couple weeks of session two and are excited to see all of the new families take advantage of our program as well as those families continuing on their gymnastics journey.
When people think of gymnastics, they usually have images of the Olympics and gymnasts doing flips on the parallel bars or rings. But those gymnasts had to start somewhere and that is what the River City Inclusive Gymnastics (RCIG) program is offering to children and young adults with and without special needs. The RCIG program introduces these young gymnasts to the foundational skills of gymnastics most notably coordination, mobility, strength, and muscular endurance. Some of the equipment we use is the same as that of the Olympics however it is adapted to each individual’s needs. For example one athlete may walk on a raised balanced beam while another athlete in the same class walks on a balance beam that is level to the floor. One of our goals is that each individual is able to experience success during their time with us.
In addition, we are always trying to improve our program and provide the athletes with new challenges. We have recently witnessed many smiling faces as the gymnasts challenge themselves on our new rock wall and peg board. If you think you would like your son or daughter to try our gymnastics program, it is never too late to sign up. And if you aren’t sure you would like to register for a class, you can always call the gym to set up a time and come observe a class to make sure it is right for your family.
Young Adult Classes are Mondays at 7:30pm and Wednesdays at 10:45am
Children’s Classes are Mondays at 3:45pm and Saturdays at 1:00pm and 2:15pm
