My oldest daughter decided she wanted to try Burn Boot Camp , a new facility that opened last week in Short Pump. I decided to join her as a support system to keep her motivated. In 6 classes so far, something else happened, I found a new love!
For any of you that know me, you know I am NOT a fitness guru, I try tons of fad diets, belong to a gym that I don’t go to and keep on trucking along like the rest of us. My sanity these past 18 months has been long walks and short runs. So, when I tried this, my expectation was low and I was a nervous wreck that I would be the only uncoordinated one in the group! ( Yes, this has happened in classes in the past for me!) What I did not expect, was to walk out after each day with a feeling of satisfaction, support, strength and pride! YUP, all of that each day! PLUS, I could not wait to get back! I am writing this piece as I just finished week 2 day 6! My husband wants to know who I am! HA!
Here’s what I can tell you-
Burn Boot Camp is a 45 minute work out, each day targets a different area, the women in the class are all ages, all sizes and all fitness levels. The class can be modified to fit your needs. The trainers are so supportive, the music is fun, the women high five and encourage all along the way and when the class is over, you know you worked hard and you feel GREAT! There are 2 evening classes that are coed as well.
Each workout will be different, they offer a focus meeting to personalize your goals and track your progress along with offering nutritional information.

Here is another point I really think is so true for us, as parents of kids with special needs, we NEED to take care of us!
