Valentine’s Day Hangout (Ages 5-15)
Taught by local artist Dalhia Cavazos & Zipporah Levi-Shackleford of CADC
Spend some time with your Valentine while we watch the kids! We will have Valentine related arts and crafts projects and games for the kids to enjoy while you go out to dinner and spend some quality time together.
Date: Saturday February 13th 7:00-9:00 pm

Design Your Future (Ages 10-18)
Taught by Zipporah Levi-Shackleford of CADC
We are more likely to reach our goals and stay motivated when we put them in writing. The chances increase when they are laid out in a visual format. In this 60-minute class, students will decide on goals for their futures and design their very own vision boards to take home.
Date: February 15th 5:30-6:30 pm

Design Your Own Comic Book (Ages 8-16)
Taught by Zipporah Levi-Shackleford of CADC
This 2-hour class will cover the process of making a comic book and the people involved. Students will then be provided with materials to make their very own comic book based on their topic of choice.
Date: Sunday February 21st 4:00-6:00 pm
Cost: $25 (All materials provided)
Beginning Photography (Ages 12-18)
Taught by Doug Baugh owner of DAB Studio Photography
This 60-minute class will teach students the basics of photography. Each week will focus on a different topic and students will learn about: camera settings and terminology, lighting, composition, positioning, basic editing and more.
Most classes will be at Creative Approach Development Center with some at local venues. A schedule will be provided at registration. Students will pick 2 favorite pieces that will be displayed in local exhibit.
Dates: February 21st-April 17th 2:00-3:00 pm (No class on March 27th)
Cost: $160 ($20/week) ** Camera is required for class. There are a couple available for loan first come first serve.
Ready Set Sew…. (Ages 10-18)
Taught by fashion designer and owner of Runway Couture Chrissy Crawford
Students will learn the basics of sewing machines functions. The class starts with a discussion on sewing tools and supplies, the steps to set up your machine including winding and installing the bobbin, threading the machine, basic stitches, including changing the length and width.
Supplies required: Students must provide fabric for final collection or project.
GRADUATION/FASHION SHOWCASE Sunday April 24th, 2016
Dates: Tuesdays February 21st- April 19th 6:00-8:00 pm
Cost: $200 ($25/week) *Student will receive sewing kit and materials for instruction
**It is recommended to practice on your own sewing machine however if you don’t have one a few rentals will be available (first come first serve, call or email for details)
Middle School Reading Club (ages 10-15)
Taught by Zipporah Levi-Shackleford of CADC
Our middle school book club will meet once a week for 60 minutes. We will discuss an assigned reading passage and then work on a fun project related to the book. Discussions will help students learn how to:
Read for purpose, summarize what they have read, identify parts of a story (conflict, plot and climax), understand literary terminology, enjoy reading
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Ronald Dahl
Everyone always wonders what goes on in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and the doors are opening for five lucky contest winners. Charlie Bucket, a disadvantaged boy in town is one of the lucky winners and gets to go on a tour of the strange factory with four other children. While this is a trip of a lifetime, there are rules to follow and when they are broken strange consequences happen.
Dates: Thursdays February 25th – April 14th 5:00-6:00 pm
Cost: $ 120 ($15 a week) **Cost includes a reading kit and a copy of the book
Upcycled Art (Ages 5-15)
Taught by local graphic designer/art director Dalhia Cavazos
Upcycled art is when you use something old to make something new. Each week students will be provided with different recyclable materials to design their own masterpieces.
Dates: Thursday March 3rd-April 7th 6:30-7:30 pm

Comic Book Art (Ages 10-18)
Taught by local artist Dalhia Cavazos & Zipporah Levi-Shackleford of CADC
Comic books are for more than just reading. Join us for this 2-hour class to find out how to use comic books to take plain items to ZAP, POW, BANG! Students will have a choice of making a storage/jewelry box, pencil/pen cup, picture frame, initials, or mug. Students may also bring an item of choice from home to decorate. Suggested items are lamp/lamp shade, phone case, shoes or mirrors.
Date: Monday March 28th 6:00-8:00 pm
